On squeezy street in Brighton

By Jon Andrews   12 Jan 2010

Oak Grove residents Genevieve Gardner and Ashley Voigt demonstrate the inadequate space left when two cars park opposite each other

A GROUP of Brighton residents is threatening to blockade their narrow street unless Bayside Council backs down over a “dangerous” parking fiasco.

In a wave of what Oak Grove neighbours see as ridiculous overpolicing, the council has issued tickets to cars on nature strips along the tight, 6m-wide thoroughfare.

Genevieve Gardner said the road was so narrow that if two cars parked opposite each other, then large vehicles wouldn’t be able to get through.
